Building Brains

10 years ago the research into brain development and ACEs had only just started. This video from the NSPCC has been around a while, but I only saw it today when attending some work training on working in a Trauma Informed way.

It is heartening to know that the research is now being translated into a shared language around brain development, that is aimed to create more understanding of this for parents, carers, children and all professionals. Share the science is a "trauma informed" approach to child brain development which uses metaphors to help improve understanding of healthy child development, foster healthy brain growth, and help children who have suffered adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) get back on track.

  1. This video was very interesting. I like the way it was presented and it seems a good training and learning tool put out by the NSPCC. I looked at some of their recent early learning resources such as Look, Sing, Play and the aim to support prenatal and new mothers. Also everyone suffering stress and mental health issues during these difficult days of the pandemic need our support.
