I'm re-reading Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way", at the moment. Well I have been trying to read it and to complete the tasks and the morning pages since the beginning of the lockdown here in the UK. More about that later.
I started this blog, whilst first reading and engaging with "The Artist's Way." My first post contained a quote from the book, which was about self-doubt, of which I had in tons. It's hard not to reflect on how far and how little I have come since that time.
Today has been a tough day. That is all I will say.
So anyway, I have been binge watching "Little Fires Everywhere." I read the book, written by Celeste Ng, last year; and will be reading it again. What a mesmerising and heart-wrenching adaptation it was. I didn't want it to end, not least because of the heartbreak.
These particular lines really struck me...
“Sometimes you need to scorch everything to the ground, and start over. After the burning the soil is richer, and new things can grow. People are like that, too. They start over. They find a way.” ― Celeste Ng
So I am not scorching anything here, it's ok.
Just prior to the lockdown started, I was feeling as if everything had been scorched. There was still some things left, just a few, that were still to be burned. The time was getting close.
Then came this time of global suffering and fear....this time of pause.... and this time of stillness.
The wood pigeon has been calling most mornings and really all day long.
It has been warm.....people have baked cakes and shared time that they may not otherwise have done from a distance and via this wonderful technology. In the safety of my space I feel gratitude and love.
If I don't look too far outside, then I don't want to make anymore fires.....
I am a little afraid of the fires starting anyway. Let's not worry too much about that right now....as the quote says, "People are like that, too. They start over. They find a way."
I hope you are ok out there my blogging friends...keep well and I promise to visit you all soon.
Yes so true. The human spirit is resilient and you to will find a way Jan. All the best as we navigate out of what has been a trying time for the world. Yet for some a very peaceful and needed time to get thoughts sorted and relax from the hub bub of life as we knew it.
