Two quotes that had me thinking. The archaic meaning of 'umbrage' from the root 'umbra' (shade or shadow especially as cast by trees) is interesting. I like to think that shade is a positive element. Even if a shadow is weak because there's little light that's much better than being in complete darkness. I also like the image.
But how. How can we let go? The world is such a scary place now.
